Understanding the geological features of uranium minerals, their formation and occurrences are critical in developing the geology of a deposit.  The polyvalence of uranium and the relatively high solubility of the hexavalent form leads to a large number of minerals containing uranium as an essential ingredient.  They are mostly grouped into chemical categories such as oxides, salts, silicates and associations of hydrocarbons with uranium.
